  • 🎬 Video
  • ℹ️ Description
George C. Scott stars as a sleazy, drunken roustabout who has no scruples, ambitions, or decency. Faye Dunaway co-stars as a mean-spirited lady who owns a small piece of land which features a towering hill upon which she has constructed a derrick to wildcat for oil. Dunaway grudgingly accepts Scott's assistance in helping her fend off the land-grabbing Jack Palance. Β© 1973, renewed 2001 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

I'm sorry but I need a better ending:
While thinking it was a total loss the ground suddenly starts rumbling again as the shaft under great pressure catapults out a 48 pound chunk of gold that had plugged up the gusher temporarily.
The well produced a thousand barrels a day for the next 30 Years.
They married of course and lived happily ever after. Jack Palance got fired, and went back to California where he choked to death on a piece of cheese.

Not the GREAT Stanley Kramer's best IMHO but still a beautiful piece of work, huh? 1973... maybe the best year for American films since 1939?
